HELP! cod4 crash

Whenever I start up COD4, it crashes. I'm using Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

PLEASE HELP! I don't want to reinstall it because then I have to patch the damn game and it takes forever to download them. Don't even know if it'll fix the issue, so help much needed.

ye it sucks if you lose that, but i think you got no other choise. i have lost my stats 4 times now... but you just gotta accomplish it all again

What is accomplished? Rank, savegames e.t.c.? If yes that's not a problem. First you need to keep your codkey. Go to Start --> Run and type regedit. Now HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> Software --> Activision --> Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare. There it says codkey or something like that, I don't remember. Open that and copy the key to a notepad and save it to a safe place. I think you can also do that ingame but if your game doesn't start there's no reason to tell u that but it is somewhere in Options. Now close that thing and go program files -> activision -> call of duty 4 - modern warfare and copy the folder called players i think, to a safe place too. Now you're ready to reinstall your game . I hope i didn't forget anything

I also found something that saves the profile and whole stats. So, I saved everything, I guess I have to reinstall it again.

So, two backups should work.

1st Reinstall your PunkBuster;
2nd Run the punkbuster setup update tool, making sure you select COD4 as one of the programs to check, and all should be well;

I had same problem.

Oh, and if you want all the patches here's a torrent I uploaded before some days : Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare Patches 1.1 - 1.7 (7z). I don't know how many seeders and leechers are there right now. I can't seed from that computer, sorry .
